Talk With Your Child About Her Questions

INFANT

Give her a toy with different sounds and features. Make it fun by saying, “Ready, set, go!” After playing with the toy, you can say, “I wonder what will happen next.”

TODDLER

Walk around your neighborhood. Ask your child questions about what she sees. For example:
• How many legs does this bug have?
• How many colors can you see in this mud puddle?

PRESCHOOLER

Try a game of “Twenty Questions.” You can say, “I’m thinking of something we ate for lunch today.” Your child can use questions to ask for clues to the answer. For example, “Is it round? Is it red? Is it crunchy?” Then switch roles.
